Common uses in construction & trades

  • Buy or lease plant, vans and tools
  • Fund materials for a new contract
  • Bridge staged valuations and retentions
  • Cover CIS deductions until they're reclaimed
  • Take on a larger project

Why contractors choose revenue-based finance

You're paid in stages

Applications for payment and monthly valuations mean labour and materials are paid out well before money comes in.

Retentions tie up margin

Typically 3% to 5% of each valuation is held back until practical completion or beyond. Working capital covers what retentions lock away.

CIS deductions squeeze cash

Subcontractors see deductions taken at source under the Construction Industry Scheme, reclaimed only later. Revolving credit bridges the gap.

Plant and vans earn their keep

Excavators, telehandlers and vans can be spread over their working life with hire purchase or leasing.

How does revenue-based finance work?

  1. 1

Apply online and connect your card terminal, payment provider or ecommerce platform data, plus your business bank account through Open Banking.

  2. 2

We look at your recent takings to agree an advance and a single, fixed total repayable, shown in pounds before you sign.

  3. 3

Receive the funds in your business bank account, typically within 48 hours of signing.

  4. 4

An agreed share of each day's card or online takings goes towards repayment until the total is cleared. No takings, no repayment that day.

Can contractors qualify for revenue-based finance?
Many can. We typically look for a UK-registered business, 6 months trading and £10K+ in monthly turnover. We review construction & trades businesses with the sector's cash-flow patterns in mind. All finance is subject to status.
What is revenue-based finance?
It is funding repaid as a fixed percentage of your future card or online takings rather than a fixed monthly instalment. You receive a lump sum and repay an agreed total, which is collected gradually as you trade.
Is it the same as a merchant cash advance?
It works on a similar principle. Repayments are linked to card or online sales, but the total you repay is fixed and agreed before you sign, and you'll see it set out in pounds.
Can subcontractors get funding?
Yes. We fund subcontractors and specialist trades as well as main contractors, subject to our trading and turnover criteria.
